tinted over them, Its not sticking very well up there but I just go over it with a rag to push it in a couple times a day untill its completely cured. Its sitting in the sun now heating up and I will go out in awhile to do it again. The guy who did it said thats the best way to get it to stick.

Tinted Windows

I just got stopped for mine the other day in Aurora of all places. I have 15% back and 50% sides (very light). He was stopped a few cars back on Ogden when he saw me turn onto Ogden from 75th. It was a sunny day (I even had the driver window down). I knew I was getting stopped when I saw him weaving around traffic and fly up on me at like 90 mph. He then drive in my blind spot for about 2 miles then pulled me over. I got a written warning only, but he mentioned that Aurora has an ordinance that allows police to impound your car for tinted windows.

The cop was young. He was very respectful (as was I), but with all the other issues in Aurora, I never expected to be stopped by them, especially in the nice areas over by Ogden. I don't know how I'd react if the guy called in a wrecker to tow my car for tint. What makes me nervous is that now the written warning is on my record so the next Aurora cop will know that and be more inclined to tow me.

I see ricers rolling through Aurora all the time with like 15% tint all around. You can clearly see inside my car with my tint, yet I still get stopped for not complying to the letter of the law. Anybody hear of a car being towed for tint?

Should I keep a razor blade in my car just in case?

I took my Chapter Event Planners Cobra for window tint a couple months ago, and they used an adhesive at the top of the rear window, and heated it and smoothed it out, it looked fine :dunno:

I got pulled over on a Saturday and had a doctor's note on Monday. I'm not too confident it'll get me out of a ticket, but I'm hoping it will prevent them towing my car. According to IL law there are many requirements for what is contained in a note to be considered exempt from the tint law. My note is missing one or two of the parameters, but covers the major ones.

BTW, here's a link to the law (and what's required for exemption):

IL Law Regarding Tint

Here's what my doctor note says:

Please be advised that L....... F....... is a long-standing patient of my office. Mr. F........ suffers from photo-phobia, a light sensitivity to his eyes. Any type of decrease in light sensitivity to his eyes is helpful"

It's also dated, signed, etc.

i have like 5% platinum tints all around! you wanna see dark? :cool1:

gnxs, that BS, he pulled u over with front two windows down. Thats like investigating without cause...unless he see's your front windows tinted theirs no reason for him to pull you over....seen so many vehicles with just back 3 tinted, why would yours appear diff.?
Mine are dark as F**k all the way around (minus WS), and im just always sure to drive around with the driver and pass. side windows down....unless its really crappy, or dark.. (but i learned from the dark experience the hard way) rain too....

have gotten verbal warning once, no written. Its Wheaton tho.
I read somewhere that now a note like that still won't cut it if the cop is in a really bad mood. I think you need a note from not just an eye doctor, but a physician as well.....F' that, try and catch me when im goin the opposite way....

Im more scared about no front plate, altho when i got the tint warning, he failed to notice the lack of FP because he came up behind me.

I only had my driver side down and the way I turned onto the road he was looking at me through the passenger side. I'm sure he could tell it was lightly tinted, but he certainly could see me clearly through the tint on a sunny day. I mean it's only 50% tint.
