I hope this family finds someone more willing to give love and attention than they are.

Trying to make money from the dog is even worse. It's a mixed breed, not a purebred. AFAIK, you don't get money for most mixed breeds.

Having a nominal asking price of say, $100, helps weed out the people that would otherwise perhaps not have the money to properly take care of the dog or would otherwise use the dog for non-ethical reasons.

Maybe they want to make sure she goes to a good home by Only asking for $100, and not $1000 and making money, or free and going to a home that won't care about her.
