02/21/11 06:27 PM TOLL ($0.50) ISTHA Plz 29-Touhy Ave-Ln 52 29

i'm sure all the "research" is done electronically

x6 or wherever we are at, if you are fully registered, year make model color plate number, they will do a vtoll, and charge you, i think its ipass rate though, trying to remember from the last time I left mine at home... I wouldn't do it too often though, they might get pissed and send you a notice saying your [nonexistant] ipass is fubar haha.

I laugh every time I see someone holding the transponder up to the windshield when going through the toll. Like it only work unless its up against glass, my dad never mounted his up on the windshield he just threw it in the glove box and the only mail he get is to replenish his account.

Its funny you say that because I do that same thing and my ipass has been shitty since the day I got it. When I called them they said it absolutely needed to be mounted for it to work. I don't get how the ipass readers would know the difference.
I usually keep mine in the consol and if I forget to grab it oh well. It doesn't work when I am on the bike so I don't even bother bringing it anymore. In 3 years I have not had a single problem.

I think you guys have the toll thing backwards. Non iPass people pay the displayed rate, iPass people will pay half of that. Semantics? Yes, let's be accurate.

With my Talon, I registered the car with an account but no transponder. Never once had an issue with that.

Only real advantage I can think of for having the transponder is if you go to Michigan. The Skyway has gates on their tolls so you either pay the $4 cash or you use a transponder. There is no blowing through it.

Mine has never worked right. I could put it within an inch of the sensor and it will only pick it up about half the time. Even holding it out the window as I pass the booth doesn't always work. I've been too lazy to get another one. But since I don't get any tickets, I just keep using my broke-ass transponder.

VTOLL is not increased on mine.

Compared my coworker who uses a transponder vs mine. Same route every day - I pay the same amount without having the transponder in my car. It just lists my plate in the right-most column.
