The Release Candidate is free. You have till 8/20 to download, after you install it on you can run it till June then it wont work. You will need to buy 7 or "acquire" it other ways.

No, it should be pretty solid. RC is pretty well along in the track and is just before the final version. So the bugs should be very minor.

Maybe cause it is not vista.

The only thing I would run vista over would be windows ME.
