You hook a digital volt meter in parallel with it then hook it in series with your glow plugs. If it reads 50mV that's 200A, and voltage less than that is proportional to the current. E.g. if you have 25mV it's 100A.

Mine's 200A but you get the idea. To make a long story short you're talking about E/I=R or 50mV/200A=0.00025 ohm resistor. I've used this trick before when tracking down current leaks that were draining my battery, I hate the idea of running high current through my Simpson 260 potentially.
