i witnessed a guy spend $600 for 24ft of speaker wire.
FUCKING SPEAKER WIRE for his 2 channel setup.
i was at holm audio in woodridge picking up a second matching amp for my setup and heturned ad asked me what i run, "i use home depot lamp cord. its like 5 bucks, and my system will rattle my neighbors china cabinet." he continued to look at me in disbelief as i just stood there.

Yeah, digital cables work differently from analog cables.

There was an article called the "digital cliff" i read a long time ago back in high school. Talking about optical cables at the time. TOSLink.

Basically, if the cable is X feet long, it will carry the signal perfectly for X feet. You still have bandwidth issues and other things.

When the digital signal fails, it FAILS. You don't get snow or static. You get a completely garbled signal with pops and drop outs.
