Samsung S7 users, speech to text feature help

On my last Android phone, when I hit the microphone button, it would type what I would say. On the S7, when I hit the button, it wants to record what I'm saying and send it as an audio recording. I can't figure out for the life of me how to change it back to 'speech-to-text'.

I figured out how to to it manually, but it requires dragging down the top screen and selecting 'Google voice typing'. I'd like to have it default to when I press the microphone, it goes into 'voice typing' mode automatically.

That's definitely faster, but sucks I can't make the original microphone button work that way. It is just an extra keyboard stroke with the Swiftkey keyboard.

I switch back to Samsung for awhile, then when I feel like it, go back to SwiftKey

How do you like the S7 so far?

I like it, I don't know how I'd really quantify that as I'm not a real 'tech' person. It is much faster than my HTC One. The OS is pretty nice too.

I don't know that I use enough of the features to really say this phone kicks ass.

I miss my S4's capability to go in "car mode" and in the morning I would be able to say "sleep" or "off" and the alarm would stop and I wouldn't have to try to find my phone. The s5 car mode is retarded.
