I wouldn't let a printer influence your choice too much. Photo printing services are so cheap now I don't think it's really cost effective to do it yourself anymore when you consider the price of paper and ink. Honestly Canon and Nikon both make great cameras now and it comes down to personal preference. I'd go to a Best Buy or something and hold both to see what you like better.

After looking at specs I'd go with the Nikon. It has 11 autofocus points vs the canons 9, a much broader ISO sensitivity range for low light shots, and shoots at 5fps vs the Canon's 3fps. It also beats the Canon in resolution at 24.2mp vs 18mp. 18mp is more than enough and higher resolution generally just equals larger file sizes, but it's nice to have the option if you want to blow something up to 20" x 30" or something like that.

So I've been learning how to use the d3400 since I bought this almost a year ago now. I love it. It's a great entry level camera. The pics I'm taking with it look insanely better than the cell phone and point and shoot photos that were going in his baby book. The only regret I have, is I'm enjoying this so much I almost wish I didn't go with such an entry level camera because I find myself wanting more out of my pics. It could definitely be my skill as I like to play with different settings and shoot in manual a lot. Otherwise I recommend this camera to anyone looking to pick up a very affordable entry level dslr

Here are photos I've taken with the camera using the kit 70-300, the 18-55 and I did pick up a 50mm prime lenses (respectively)

I need to break out my D60 and take more pics. LOL. Its probably shit compared to new cameras.

In favorable lighting at a reasonable image size you probably can't tell a difference. The only reason I've upgraded D40>D90>D7100>D750 is for shutter speed and high ISO image quality. After upgrading to the D750 a new body would have to offer some pretty crazy stuff to make me upgrade again.
