leaking oil

i changed shifters i didnt put any gasket sealer around the edge of the shifter when i mounted it. Could this be why i smell oil from the trans ? its driping from somewhere and burning it off on the exhaust

That definetely sounds like a possibility. Me and Mike (TaintedSnake) raced a GT and there was a shitload of white smoke pouring out the back of his car once we got moving. Turns out he put his shifter in half-ass and he had been running it at the track all day spilling fluid onto the exhaust, then racing that night burning off more. Not sure exactly how much trans fluid he had after a full day of racing and leaking fluid, but thats what he gets for not wondering why his car is pouring white smoke out.

well if thats the case, give me a call i'll help you with the shifter and then you can help me change the fluid in my tranny

mine should be able to fit under there, if not, i got some 2x4's we can drive it on to to raise it up a bit to jack it.
