Here's how a Jalopnik "Best of" list works.

Step 1: Author creates post asking what the shiniest car ever made was.
Step 2: Author reads comments, picks 10 random suggestions and posts them the next day under the headline "10 Shiniest Cars Ever Made".

There is absolutely no method to their madness. They ask a question, half the people respond with answers like shooting brake, Saab, manual transmission, etc regardless of what the question was and then ten or so commenters have their suggestions added to the list. If there is a less accurate way of compiling best of lists than how Jalopnik does it id love to know.

Thom Trafford The list is flawed before it got started, think about it, muscle cars were and are categorized as factory built vehicles driven on the street, American built cars between the 60's and early 1970's, so 1/4 mile drag cars and one off privately built or modifieds should not qualify, and vehicles like the upcoming 2015 Dodge Challenger as well. If you're going to name a list to fill, fill it with what truly qualifies, not with anything on the road, seems unfair. Theirs plenty to pick from without going outside the top 10 that actually should be on that list, justy two cents worth. Re-labeling a cars qualifyimg category so it falls where you want it, come on now. Newer Mustangs, Camaro's, Challengers are not muscle cars, the cars are retro at best. Since 1953 the Corvette has been known as a sports car, first and foremost, with a select few in the 60' s and 70's that could be muscle cars in that era, that's it.
Before you play the game, an understanding of the rules should be available first.

That's how it's always been, I don't think anyone has ever claimed that their lists are the most accurate representation of the automotive community. There's no rhyme or reason to their picks, it's just whatever suggestions the author deems to be best. People taking them seriously is funny though
