Build ZXMustang's 2023 Hellcat

General Information

Well, let's see it

Hey for the record, the Bronco is SICK. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Absolute sick big SUV style vehicle. And I had every intention to keep it and maybe next year get a much older/cheaper car I could race and still keep it.

And I might still keep it. Its on the table still, but the new vehicle has been bought. It was just too good of a deal. This might be a flip actually, but I dont know if I can help not wanting to keep it. So as it stands, I might keep both, or sell the bronco and keep this or flip this and still keep the bronco. I have a few days to decide. But the used market is stronger than the new market on these, and I know I could probably make $10k on this tomorrow. Sticker was $82259 and I got $14,000 off sticker on it. Selling price was $68258. This is a lot of car for this price. Its about as good as I paid for the 21 Charger HC I got back in the day on the forum deal and that sticker was only $75k.

Brand new 23 JB SRT Hellcat challenger A8. Octane red. Pretty loaded up with suede and HIDs and so on. No tech package so no lane assist or radar cruise. But thats about it. Oh and obv, narrow body.

Jealousy is such an ugly color. 😂
Not jealousy at all. :bowrofl:

Knew Angrywomensgarage would take it that way. 10000% bait post again. Damn you people should know better this wasnt even taking shots.

I meant it as a credit that the platform has been refinded enough very little mods run LOW 10s@130+

When these came out it took FOREVER to get them in the 9s.

:bowrofl:

Typical Angrywomensgarage thanks for playin.

Nice to see Hellcats get figured out after going on sale what 16 years ago?

This is a recipe made many years ago lol.

Anyway, car absolutely rips obv. 12mph more in the quarter mile than stock. Unreal. Just E85 tune only. DRs have been on the car for every pass from stock stock to today's tune/E passes. So its a pretty nice apples to apples.

DA has fluctuated from the stock passes at around 1500 I believe to the last two outings on tune then tune/e85 both of those were at zero or below. So there's that. But mineshaft air aside, its pretty impressive for only the tune and DRs. If I had more seat time and the same air, I could get another .10 off I bet.

This car is tricky to launch too because dodge did something STUPID in 2023. I believe it was 23, but they added "launch assist". Thats not launch control. This is different and it cant be disabled. So its basically enabled in any mode even with TC completely disabled, unless the real LC is enabled to be used.

And it holds the car at 1100 like LC does, but its wildly inconsistent. The TRX people are dealing with this as well. Nobody can disable it.

So the trick is to keep the TC ON and in sport. But enable the real LC but jack it way up to like 3k or something so you dont actually activate it. Then you can foot brake the car to say 1600ish where it likes to be, and it will launch nicely.

But its like 15 fucking button presses to use line lock as to not have to disable TC, then enable LC and the custom mode you need. Its a pain when you are rolling up to the beams to get it all right. But if you do, it looks like this.

2.4 0-60 as well. Thats a wild ride in a huge boat like the Hellcat, with the suspension in street to get maximum weight transfer.

This is exactly what I mean. Its not about throwing parts at it.

Tuning has made massive improvements in the last decade.

Tune Tire Fuel mods nothing more would shut up alot of people with the typical "hellcats are heavy and slow" general assumption.

There is more on the table in the tune as well. But at that point we are pushing it past what my guy is comfortable with - without being at the track looking at all the data in real time. Im not that serious of a racer here. I got where I wanted with this setup.

Next time I will try to go with more actual HP from real mods to see if I can run these same times (and faster) in the summer heat. Thats when it really counts here. I was going to do the mopar nationals thing in orlando next month but its a 10.5 or 11.0 class. And if its warmer, Im not fast enough for the 10.5 and I'd have to sand bag for the 11.0.

Id rather work the tune to be able to make full runs and still dial in the 10.5 ET. But I need some pullies or something for that.

Anyway this was fun.

Side note, my buddy with the charger HC DESTROYED his drive shaft tonight. Went home on a tow truck.

Tuner got back to me after reviewing my logs and slips from last night. He redid a bunch of trans and also rescaled all the tables for spark and power enrichment since I’m seeing higher aircharge than before. Now it’s got way more in it and shift points and aggressiveness have all been raised. Took it out and logged a few hits and wowzers it’s got more now.

Tuner saying it’s still super happy even now. Everything is within spec where we want it. We also fine tuned the throttle pedal more for track mode.

Lots of neat stuff these cars can do. I’m going to experiment with this other software called alfaobd. It’s like forscan for fords but for dodge. It’s a gui based software that gives you code level access to the pcm and bcm and a few other control modules so you can really dig deep into the cars programming.

And I don’t mean PCM tuning. This is software that can edit and change bcm functions like how the air conditioner blower motor reacts to the dial on the dash and other things like enabling auto up on the windows when the car doesn’t do that from the factory.

I did this with the bronco. Forscan let me add all the GOAT modes that I was missing from not getting the braptor and also turning off the key left behind honks and also enabling the usage of the fogs with the brights. Lots of cool things you can change or completely fuck up.

When you heading back to the track?

Probably two weeks. BMP has some big events coming up and they usually cancel T&T on Thursday nights because the racing rigs and campers show up then so they can race on Friday and over the weekend.

Also cool thing from last night. We saw cleeter fly in to the freedom factory in his blue helicopter. Then saw him leave a few minutes later in his f150 raptor R. He was flying in from Daytona after testing for some arc series or something.

Freedom factory is right behind the drag strip to the side.

Will it stay cool for your next attempt in two'ish weeks?

As to the launch assist, I watched a Demon 170 in that comparison to the Lucid, and you can see the thing fighting it. That easily tacks on a couple tenths trying to keep the wheels from spinning.
