Moving to a new place and need a Docsis 3.0 or even 3.1 compatible modem. Just looking to save a few $$$ is someone has one laying around.

I'm in the Schaumburg area but down to take a little ride.

I just replaced my 3.0 with a 3.1, let me get you the part number when I get home today......

I believe it's a SB6120 if memory serves but ill double check today for you.

Which 3.1 did you pick up? I have a 3.0 SB6190 that, at the time, comcrap said supported gigabit. Now they're stating minimum is 3.1.

Using Xfinity as well....

Speeds before modem swap were always 130-140 Mbps download and 9-10 Mbps upload when measured from my router, after the modem swap my average is 240-250 Mbps download and 12-13 Mbps upload when measured from the router.

Nice to take advantage of the plan I was paying for.

Youre pulling those numbers on a 3.0 modem? I cant imagine what your 3.1 will be getting.
Yeah... I've always gotten 20% over what the package shows. Comcrap's box is in the corner of my yard. The signal strength inside my house at the modem is higher that what most people are getting before the signal even reaches their house. For the first 24-48 hours I had to use a splitter with a -3db reducer so that it wouldn't throw a flag at Comcast (the installer recommended this). Even with the 150/12 package I was at 200/15. The 300/25 I was at 360/33-34.

What sucks is their "gigabit" package is really 987/35. Friend of mine has it with a 3.1 and the best he gets is 980/43.

I'd be content with like a 300/300 deal, or even like a 300/150. Just want more outbound speed. I would have stayed grandfathered with the 300/25 but the cost was $30 more per month than the 600/20. Wasn't worth the few extra Mb/s for $30.

Friend of mine in Romeoville has Metronet's fiber. Gig up/down for like $80/mo with taxes.

But I am curious now if a 3.1 would make any difference. Kind of thinking it won't. I'll see if I can borrow one first to test it out.

Seems like a pain in the ass to go through all the headache of having a new modem connected and put onto the service just to test the theory out doesnt it? :dunno:

I would think the new one would help, but youre already over the package youre paying for so I don't know if its worth it really.

I've got a displaced SI joint that just won't stay back in place, so lots of nothing to do outside of work, LOL
