I don’t have any cool new toys to share, but I am excited about the new family SUV. We picked up a 2021 Q7 55 on Friday to replace our MDX. What a big difference. I had grown up driving German sedans and they definitely get the steering feel and shock dampening right. It’s so much more fun to drive (for a 5K pound SUV). The turbo motor in this car has a bit of initial lag, but once it hits about 2,000 rpms it pulls hard to redline. The idiot that I am already emailed BMS and confirmed that the JB4 works on this model. I might buy one just for the hell of it.

The inside is full of technology and it took me a while to get everything setup. There’s so many different sub menus to go thru to personalize what you like by “user”. The virtual cockpit is awesome, but the piano black trim shows fingerprints which is mildly annoying.

Anyways, here are a few pics. The car needs a good clay barring as I can feel some contaminants either from transport or from the dealer lot. I’ll fix that next weekend.

I put a microfiber in the glovebox and showed my wife where the Meguiars Interior Quick Detailer is at. It drives me nuts too.

Yeah the same motor as the B9 S4. It's rated 335hp and 369 ft/lbs of torque. It moves pretty good for a heavy car.

I exchanged emails with George at Burger. I wanted to make sure that the B9 JB4 unit worked with my car since it has a "mild hybrid" system. It works and George said I could run Map 3 (+4 psi) all year round on 93. I'm guessing that would put the car into the low 13's or maybe high 12's.

Yeah jb4 is awesome and easy. Near $700 I’ve ever spent. I’d totally recommend. You can also buy through Mook

I did an exterior detail and channeled my inner Gav Details Gav'sPurpleZ

Prep: Foam wash, IronX and ClayBar

The paint had a lot of contamination on it as I think the car sat on the lot for a few months. I had to clay bar the hood three times for example.

Polish: Menzerna 3500 with a LC white pad

Protectant: Wolfgang Sealant 3.0

I probably could have compounded a few spots to get it perfect as there were a few minor defects left from poor dealer prep, but it’s good enough knowing that it’s my wife’s car and it will see car washes.

Picked up a used JB4 the other day and plan on installing it this week. I’m going to run “map 3” which is 4 psi over stock. I’m kind of excited to see how much difference it makes.
