I55 south bound by bolingbrook. I drove that stretch everyday for 8 years. That is kharma. I don't know what that guy was thinking. Either way he was asking for his nice truck to just get smashed.

No reason for shit like that on the roadway, just move over and let the guy pass.
I agree. Though you also do have those idiots who camp on your bumper even though the left lane is totally free and they can pass you at any time.

I don't brake check people like that, though I do occasionally tap the pedal just enough to get the brake lights to turn on.

I have also been known on occasion to change lanes just to confuse them only for them to follow me again (WTF?!) like I was a snake charmer. For those I employ full and judicious use of the throttle to put massive distance between us.

They are idiots operating with a brain disconnect. At that point they are completely unaware of anything around them, and are simply driving along with minimal thought and mostly muscle memory.

I had a friend that used to ride inches from people's bumpers, not because he was in a hurry or trying to be a dick, but he just wasn't thinking or paying attention. It was a bad habit and a definite brain disconnect. I hated being a passenger in his car and I'd be gripping the seat bolsters in fear the whole way.

I see people get on to a nearly empty 3 lane highway from an entrance ramp and go directly to the left lane. :picard:
^^^^this... I don't get it. I see it all the time as well. Right lane is totally open and people with cut over to the left lane with impunity. Why? Why go all the way over when the lane you just entered is totally open? Fucking asshats.

A taxi driver did that to a friend. Taxi was merging on to I-88 E/B from Rt 59. Went from the ramp into the #4 lane, then immediately shuffled over to the #3. My friend was cruising along on his bike and wanted to keep a safe area around him, so he checked the #2 lane, signaled, and went over since his closing speed on the taxi was pretty high. Taxi just went right to the #2 lane, no signals. No traffic in #4 or #3. Why the fuck man? Friend slammed into the back of him. Spent a few months in the hospital getting put back together. Taxi driver had no excuse as to why he cut across three lanes of traffic when the road was open in front of him.

The "stay right except for passing" just doesn't apply to anyone, ever. Neither does "slower traffic keep right". On I-65 I see it ALL the time, slow traffic in the left lane, forcing drivers to pass them on the right. Or they just camp in the left lane for miles and miles, even if they're not passing anyone.

looks like your typical left lane camper mindset of "i'm going faster than the speed limit therefore the freight train length of cars behind me can pass in the right lanes." These people are assholes or just close enough to brain dead to remember to breathe.

Which is still impeding the flow of traffic and in some states can warrant a moving violation. Not that it's even been enforced. Like when one tractor-trailer goes to pass another on a four lane highway (two lanes each direction) and they take 10 miles to complete it cause the passer is going 0.25 mph faster than the other. That shit should be ticketed as well. I'm sure the 100 cars backed behind them up would like to give the semi drivers a few choice words.

If it's two lanes of travel for that direction then trucks (tractor-trailers) should be barred from passing, period.

Yea you just defined 65 perfectly. 2 limp dick semi drivers take 5 miles to pass. If I'm in my truck just perfect I can shine my brights so it it hits both their mirrors and blinds them. I've had the truck in the right lane then slow way the fuck down so I can pass them

When I drove down to Tire Rack to pickup my Winter Tires I found tons of that happening. And not even just big semi's. Cars too were only passing at like 1-2mph faster. So there were entire trains of people waiting to pass somebody.

I typically drive I-65 through IN at night when traveling to/from Kentucky. The worst I saw was two semi's playing dick-grab at 55mph (70mph limit for cars, 65 for trucks) for a solid 20 miles. I was about 3-4 cars back and when going around a bend to the left I couldn't see the end of the cars behind us. The backup of cars actually extended over the horizon.

Someone must have called ISP because eventually we came across a median section where the cops like to sit and there were two cruisers with their blues lit up. They pulled out, maneuvered behind both trucks and pulled them both over. Somewhat gratifying, but the amount of people they held up and for how long was ridiculous. Each person in each vehicle should have been able to to get out, walk up to the two semi drivers, and give them a swift kick in the nuts.

Hence they should pass a law stating no vehicles over a certain length or weight should be allowed to pass when there is only a single passing lane. That includes buses, RV's/campers, etc.

And like @Thirdgen89GTA said, there are a lot of offending cars as well. If you can't initiate and complete your pass within a realistic amount of time based on traffic and speed just don't bother passing. It shouldn't take a full minute for a car to pass a loaded semi.

There really needs to be vehicle-to-vehicle communications built in to each car, with the license plate being the call tag. Short range of course, maybe 100m max. But enough where you can call the vehicle in front of you and tell them to either shit or get off the pot. It would lead to some interesting conversations and possibly some escalated road rage. But hey, make dash cams a standard as well, for YouTube's sake.

If I’m in the left lane, I am 85+, most of the time, I would rather just hide out in the right lane and go with the flow of traffic, which, through Atlanta is still 25 over...

Passing lane means to pass, not to get out and regulate everyone else.
