So I was excited to get this because 1. Stranger things and 2. It sounded different and delicious. Pastry stout with waffles and maple syrup? Sign me up. So, how does it taste? It tastes fine but I don't get any of the "breakfast" taste I was expecting. It sips well enough and is smooth, but I'm struggling to taste either flavors. Only thing I can think of, this second shipment sat waiting to be delivered for DAYS after its arrival date, maybe sitting in a less than "keep refrigerated" environment hurt it? Dunno.
But its 11% so thats cool.

Pulled the GTO out tonight and ran over to total wine to see what I could see and ended up picking some of this up on a whim to try
It's an imperial stout brewed with "a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish." And my GOD is it delicious. It's also 12% This night about to get interesting.

This is a top 5er for me. Not crazy complex, not sweet, has a kind of a szechuan peppercorn kind of flavor and subtle burn.
Hopslam is in the stores for a limited time. First time I have had it in bottles. They also have a mini keg.
Hopslam is really good this year. I picked up a 6er on thursday. Years past seemed too sweet. This years has a nice balance.
