Well it looks like we're going to be expanding here at work and starting a large contract with a company.... Good for the company, bad for my TCG post count. :bowrofl:

One of the things I'm going to need to look into is likely hiring a person to do a job and I'm curious what you think the hourly rate would be for this person.

We're a small company and like with most small companies the person is going to "wear many hats" and not just do one job. Essentially their day would look like this:

Inspect and pack parts for shipment.
Put boxes and parts that are packed onto skid(s).
Load skid(s) into box truck (Express3500 with a box on the back for 6-8 skids)
Drive parts to the customer (from Streamwood to Elk Grove)
Drop off completed parts and pick up new parts to assemble
Return to Streamwood from Elk Grove
Receive all new parts (verifying part numbers and quantities)
Put new parts needing assembly in their designated areas.

Then as time allows they would also do random stuff around the warehouse, maybe some assemblies, maybe some cleaning, maybe tossing out trash, etc...

No real benefits here, we have health and dental where the company pays for half of the costs, but no 401K or anything like that.

Just curious what you all think the rate we would need to pay to fill a position like this..... I assume we would list it as a driver or something like that?

Im hoping one of the people already here are going to want it and make the search easier but we shall see.

I was gonna say 15-18. Any overtime possibilities? Vacation/sick days? That stuff will make a difference I’d think.

X2 on this.

We do work overtime on occasion, but nothing too crazy. Maybe 4 or 5 times a year we will work a 55-60 hour week because an order becomes hot and they need it rushed.

3 sick days per year.

Vacation starts after the first year of service and is 2 weeks, after 5 years is 3 weeks, and after 10 years is 4 weeks (if memory serves).

Then we have days off paid like New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (and day after), Christmas (and day after).

Plus the owner does a random employee appreciation day off during the year.

I was thinking it would be in the $18'ish range so I don't think im too far off. :dunno:

Seems the common range specified is $18ish. I would figure $18-$20.
