Shitty old Lincoln’s.
Introducing my new 1980 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe. 1/6119 made that year. In 1981 they dropped the Continental part of the name and by 1982 they were no longer made. Last year for the 351 (which it has) except for fleet and Canadian sales. Possibly last year for carb because I know in 81 they mention the “new fuel injection” but I also have an ad for 1980 which mentions fuel injection also.

This has been a dream Lincoln for me for years. I sold my 88 in the week after getting this and I’ll end up selling my 78 Mark V soon too now that I got this. Hard to come by especially in nice condition. And I got it for a steal IMO. Underside is for the most part all nice and black. Interior is really nice minus needing the dash cover redyed and a new headliner. 77k miles. Engine turns over and runs off gas poured down the carb.

Now for the car porn

Fuckin A that's awesome....feel like big body late 70's and 80's sedans and coupes are becoming the next big thing (if they're not already). Been eye fucking some 80's square B-bodies. Or one of the Fox platform big sedans (Granada, LTD, Marquis)....This just motivates me more to want to go that route...

Hence the reason I'm looking to dump the Regal and get in to a 70-76 Caprice or Impala. Prices just keep going up every year.

I know it is a G-Body but I sure miss my Grand Prix's.. Had a 1979 SJ in (gulp) two-tone Jade Green with the anemic 301, and a white 1981 LJ with the 3.8 with the tan vinyl(?) interior that was absolutely mint (bought it in 1991). Always wanted the 2+2 Aerocoupe since I couldn't afford a Darth Vader.

Edit, in my like of Grand Prix's forgot to mention I had a 92 SE Coupe with the 3.4 DOHC, black over gray cloth... Oh that was a nice car.

Still, not mine, but couldn't find a decent side view with one that had the rear spoiler.

That thing is mint. I hares these types of cars as a kid. Now it'd totally live to have one. haha

I had a 1985 Buick Riviera for my first car. I hated driving it when I was 16-19. But looking back at it now, I wish I still had it! It had super comfy seats and rode in air ride. Like riding a cloud! So I get the appeal of cars like this. I really do. lol

Yeah they are fairly steadily going up value wise. You can still find them around for dirt cheap from kids wanting to unload their grandparents car after they die and from derby guys. That’s where I found this a derby guy 6 hours away wanted $1500 for it. I grabbed a uhaul and left at 2am going off only a tiny bit of information and a couple pics to thinking the whole way up other side of the car was going to be fucked or something.

Get there and fucker was mint and had a dealer brochure on the passenger seat even. I’ve never handed over the cash and loaded a vehicle up as fast as I did then. Didn’t waste time haggling or trying to see if he knew what it was or anything just hand the cash over push the car onto the trailer with the bobcat and my ass is gone.

Theres some bad spots in the clear coat on the trunk and a couple decent scratches but for the time being it’ll be alright and I’ll get all the paint done up really nice keeping as much of it original as possible.

2 door and boxy. Fucker is badass.

one of the reasons I wanted one of these so badly VS a Mark VI is the boxyness. It’s just straight lines everywhere. But these are a bitch to find Mark Vis you can find all the time for sale. They made between 26k-38k of them from 1980-1983 so they are more plentiful and easy to pickup. Plus the roofline gives me a chub. Basically the same roofline as a Town Car but they brought the back window in a hair which makes the roof look bigger than a Matk VI and also makes the ass of these look longer

plus I love the fact they slapped a mini version of the late 70s ass on these. It’s the same body as the later 80s Town Cars but the first couple years they slapped the huge bumpers and 70s asses on.

If it weren't for that anemic 301 2bbl.... My friend would borrow his mom's 1985 Monte Carlo SS and we'd race. He would barely pull on me cause his engine wasn't in as poor of shape and he had a bit more tire width for grip.

He was still running that SS when I picked up a 94 Z-24 with the 3.1 and would walk away from him.

Yes, I had to do a few modifications to it, but that Grand Prix would coast forever and the ride was smooth. Not as smooth as my old man’s 1981 Town Car, but it was smooth.
