It's the RAID controller battery. As far as I can tell, I'm not blind, there is no battery on the RAID card. Replaced the CMOS/BIOS battery so that's brand new.

With a 610 someone already took it off.

Those are decent servers (fuck the rails they came with, I always break those) but the FW has to be updated on them. I'm hoping to get a Vertex when my work starts scrapping them.

Yeah it was on 1.1.0 ( ) when we had them running a HV host with a DC and file server on it. I updated it to 6.6.0 (somehow) but reverted it back to 6.4.0. Everything is updated on it, running Server 2019 flawlessly. Found a workaround for the Matrox drivers as well so I get a whopping 1280x1024 instead of limited to 1024x768.

It's actually a pretty beefy server. 96GB RAM, and two 4/8 5520 processors IIRC. I'm running some older Samsung enterprise SSDs, RAID1 for OS, RAID10 for the game drive which I'm only running a Valheim server atm. Total overkill for the thing.

On top of removing all the old bullshit cable I posted about in the bored thread, I ran new CAT6 through my basement to get my ACTUAL home network all setup.

I also finally discovered why ANY router/gateway I plugged directly into my fiber modem wouldn't work. Contrary to the tech support who said "no MAC whitelisting is needed" there is indeed fucking MAC whitelisting required. So I got an older USG Pro 4, USW-16-POE, and AC-HD for free from work. They also sent me a UBB kit from a site that no longer used it and my director literally said "use it for your barn office." So I've got around $2500 in free network gear. Got everything setup and I'm running the controller off my server that I also got for free from work. Older R610 that is worth all of about $500 on eBay. The joys of refresh cycles/old offices with unused equipment.

LAN1 runs my home network, LAN2 will go to my barn eventually but have it sitting next to me in my office in the basement currently. Really nice having the USG Pro because I can see exactly how much fucking TikTok Megan is wasting her time with.

I have an old rack but it’s on wheels and I have no hardware to screw anything down. I may get a smaller 7U wall mount just to keep stuff off the counter. Don’t know what I’m doing about mounting the server though.
