💦 Detailing Water Softening

Was wondering what people are using to help soften their water. I recently resigned from my old position and have been doing a side job here and there. I'm familiar with the CR Spotless deionzer but am not willing to spend that type of money on one and there has to be a better option.

I have a traditional big box store water softener. Had my water tested until the hardness was where I wanted it. Which of course is set to kill so I can wash my car without drying

How are you able to not dry your car with soft water? Water softeners just replace calcium and magnesium with sodium or potassium. I still need my cr spotless even with soft water or it will leave soft water spots (potassium). The nice thing though is I can wash and rinse with soft water and then do a deionized spot free rinse at the end.

I can wash my car using straight nasty ass well water with a spin on RV water filter. Ya know the plastic tubes you'd screw onto a water supply at a camp ground to feed your camper. Works fucking flawless

How many washes do you get out of it and how much do they cost? Sounds like a good alternative.

All summer. Once or 2x a week. I also use that hose to fill up barn dogs water jug and it doesn't leave a nasty rust ring... Seem to be like $30 for a 2 pack on Amazon

That’s not how water softeners work. The salt is used to rinse minerals off of a resin. The resin pulls the minerals off of the water.

If you have everything sized correctly and regenerate when the resin starts getting saturated your water will leave little to no water spots and get your car crazy clean.

I sent my water to a company called aqua science, they sized one up based on bathrooms and people one the house.

Not to be mean, but you are incorrect. Water softeners work by ion exchange. Please do a google search. For every ion of cal/mag that is removed, it is replaced with and ion of sodium.
