Unfortunately my Movado Fiero has a chip in the glass as well as a chip in the metal. Then to top it off, seems like I'm missing a pin or part of a pin to keep a link in place. Just to replace the head/dial, the cheapest I was quoted was about $700. :tear:

You may be able to find a new replacement crystal on some watch websites. Here are a few that I know of and have used.

Send them an email and see what they say.

There are watch repair shops in the area and of course scattered abroad. Find another shop. Try calling some higher end jewelry stores. Some will have watch repair services or know of a watch repair service that they use. $700 dollars is pretty outrageous.

There are quite a few YouTube videos on how to replace crystals too. I modified watch dials and relumed the hands before but have yet to replace a crystal. It's on my to do list as I want to upgrade a crystal on one of my other watches.

The $700 quote was actually on the cheap side. I almost jumped on it right then, but felt it was to good to be true. Movado themselves told me about $1200 IIRC. Ill look into the sites you linked me to and go from there. I also need to find spare parts for this model as I think they discontinued it.

Opinions or ideas?
Check out Air Blue watches. They make some great affordable watches. They are made by Deep Blue. A top notch dive watch company. I have 3 Deep Blues myself and love their designs, movements and prices.

Also check out the sales that Deep Blue have on their watches. Lots of great automatic and quartz watches at all price points along with some great sales right now.

Choose cyber shipping and also try using code "hydro" in the checkout. You might get another 40% off

I do like the prospect of an automatic for my daily. I have a vintage automatic Heuer, but it just sits around. I hate replacing the battery in my Fossil, annoying as hell.

Yes. I love autos. All my watches are autos. Just something about them. It's sort of like I have a connection with it in order for it to work. Plus I just like mechanical things.

On the Deep Blue website. In the checkout, the discount code "cyber" still offers another 40% off their sale prices on certain models. I just tried it on a Deep Blue NATO 300 Diver. Sale price was $249 plus the code subtracted an additional $99 off for a total of $150. So if you find something you like. Try the "cyber" code.

Some of Seikos SRP and SKX automatic models can be had for a great value too. I have a SRP315 that is my daily work beater watch. They can range from $100 and up for a tough as nails automatic.

The great thing about a lot of these micro brands like Deep Blue, Aragon and hundreds of others. They too use a lot of Seiko automatic movements, Miyota and swiss movements too.

I could go on for hours and bore you to death about watches. ;)

Finally picked up my first meteorite dialed watch. It’s has Muonionalusta meteorite for the dial. Usually found in the Sweden region. The was uses ETA’s robust ETA 2824 automatic 28,800bph. So it has a really nice smooooooth sweeping second hand. Miyota and Sellita make some really nice 28,800bph automatic movements as well. The watch also uses AR coated sapphire to reduce glare.

Mine is #78 of #100.

Love the striations on the meteorite.
