That housing was leaking, the chrome washed off the projector covers…so I had to paint Them. I think they look way more classy than the chrome anyway. I cleaned the housings with glass cleaner before painting them. Chrome wiped right off. If you want to keep the chrome you should not touch them at all

A little closer to finishing off my cold air box. I have to fab 1 or two more pieces…so some day it’ll be done. I basically started by fabbing the lower shield, and cutting away some of the cowl to pull cooler air in. I made the second tray this weekend, which helps keep out air from the hot side of the motor

Ewwww. I had a tech that could do them in about 4 hours though. We used to kill it on the warranty time.
I took a week off, ain’t no way 4 hours is happening on Jack stands and my centrum silver status. I’ll probably fiddlefuck around with some other stuff while I’m at it

Getting ready, I start this weekend

Took me 18hrs with swearing breaks on jack stands in the middle of July on an 87* day. I don’t know what was worse in my eyes, oil or the puddles of sweat.

Have fun!

You’ve been pretty deep into the car already, I’m sure it’ll go quicker than that for you.

Which turbos are these again? I was looking at the MMP stage 3 turbos for my wagon :)
Fapo 17t. The very cheapest available on eBay. They are upgraded t04, and about $750 shipped.

The quality is much better than my expectations, hopefully they last a few miles. Not sold on $2500 rebranded chinesium turbos

Im excited to see how things turn out. Hows progress? And what method are you using to get at these? I have heard easiest fastest is drop the front subframe? But then I have heard some magicians can get them out from up top.

They’ll come out through the top. I didn’t drop the subframe. I got the back one through the bottom, but the front one has to come out the top. I got it loose, but it won’t move unless the manifold studs are removed. Right now it’s hung up on the oil drain, but am taking a long break.

I had to remove a few hoses off the water pump, and slid the water pump forward a few inches. I may have to disconnect an AC line once I get the oil drain off, but I’ll cross that bridge if it prevents me from getting it out the top.
