$794 ComEd bill this month. No gas bill, electric only house.

I heat the house with wood, the only electricity being used to heat the house is in two of the bedrooms furthest from the stove. Doors are kept closed with the room thermostats at 65.

All the cost comes from a dozen heated buckets, tank heaters and eventually Heat lamps for birthing in the barn

$210 for comed and $97 for gas. Furnace is new and only heats 1/2 of the 2400sqft of my ranch house. The rest is electric heat including a heater for the garage that is there to keep it above freezing in there since there are water lines in there.

Everyone always says that it must cost a fortune to keep my Plex Server running 24/7/365 considering. It idles around 140watts, and peaks around 200w for about 3 minutes when someone starts playing a movie. But after that settles in the 160-180w range.

But if you think about it, its really about as much as two 75w light bulbs. Its really not that much all things considered.

My bill was $67 last month.

I adjusted my vents in the basement and first floor and now am getting a much more even temperature in the house so that’s nice. I’ve done that before I think, but had reverted to having them all wide open again.

Nicor $129. All sealed up in the last 5 years with new windows, doors, and siding. Had to move the NG water heater to the garage because a bathroom vent fan or range hood would pull the exhaust in the house. So unfortunately a wood burner is out of the question despite having a large supply of firewood.

I just got a second quote for $1700 idk it seems about right, they are quoting it as 6 hours of work to get the baffles in for the air vents, some spay foam and then blown insulation.
