🔧 BUILD Upside-down M90 GTP build thread

General Information

When your wife gives you permission to build a racecar, you build a racecar.

This is what happened to me. However, all funding for this project comes out of my construction account. I really need a telehandler, so this is very budget friendly. Luckily, I've been stockpiling parts for years. This isn't an overnight build by any means. My goal is to make a 1/4 mile pass with it before the tracks close for the season. I'm taking a risk here and using photobucket for image hosting, so hopefully they don't screw me over again.

So let's start it off. I bought a 04 L26 motor with somewhere north of 100k on it and started to tear it down.

Everything looks good so far. The pistons are really clean. There was some junk sitting in the oil pan, but not much.

all the passages and bolt holes are done.

only things left to do on it are to counterbore the recessed bolt holes larger (my sample bolt i grabbed has a smaller head than any other i can find...fuck)

i need to thread the face ports for the AN fittings, and i also need to drill and thread the passage for the oil pressure sender and the turbo feed...i may put the pressure sensor on the remote ford filter mount to keep it away from the heat.

the turbo feed i may put on the side but i like the way it would route if it put it on top facing forward... plus it would be about 12" long.

anyways onto the racecarparts pr0n

you can see the passage for the oil pressure relief valve

Anyone have ideas for oil filter adapter plates? Intense is out. I'm not sure what this will cost to ship here.

Hey! I bought a very basic one from this company...was under $100usd. https://branikmotorsports.com/ - They mostly do off-road stuff, but they did build this for rock crawlers moving to a 3800. I never used it, but did sell to Robert Bates. I did see at one point he was parting out all of his 3800 perf. stuff including this. Not sure if he'd still have it.

It did not have the adjustable pressure port, just the 2 oil ports to run lines and the milled line between the holes on the engine side.

IIRC the oil port holes were only 1/4 NPT to had to enlarge them, but it is a good basic starting point if you want to modify it. Otherwise I think the Ausie one looks good!

Here is a pic I found of what it looked like.

Nice, I did send him a message to see if he still had anything, but haven't heard back from him.

Well, I'm impressed. I decided for $222, it wasn't worth the day of messing around trying to make my own. So, Saturday the 9th I ordered the oil filter plate from Australia, and today the 18th, I got it. I'm pretty impressed it took a little over a week to get it when Amazon prime orders are usually 6 days.

But it looks like a quality piece. Now to figure out where to mount the oil filter.

I just had the pleasure of throwing some different shoes on their square body fire truck this weekend. That things pretty sweet.

I may make it out there if I find time to change my oil and take care of some minor fueling tweaks but I don't know how hard I wanna push it and have to be doing it all over again just yet and I've got a bunch of stuff here I need to get gone too. Plus it never fails the weather sucks for the car show that day.
