She took the picture of the sun and when she looked at the photo noticed the green orb or she was taking a picture of the green orb?
Have her upload the original high res to somewhere or email the original. If it was sent through text, its too pixelated to tell

This too. Could just be a reflection artifact if it was noticed after the fact.
And actually looking closer, I'm pretty sure that's it. Its shaped like the sun and the black lines match the tree at the bottom of the sun. I'm going to say lens reflection artifact
She was taking a picture of the sun rising with her group of runners and then noticed the guacamole Death Star
I noticed something similar when I took this picture for TCG ROTM (shameless plug please vote for me)
