You bastards. I ordered up a spare, one of those jack/ramp deals, some locks, and a weight distubiting hitch. I mainly blame Yaj Yak Yaj Yak

better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

being broken down because of a trailer issue/situation is the fucking worst.

You guys ever use truck tires on your trailers, my dad being super anal put Michelin truck tires on his last boats trailer it was a triple axel and had them balanced, I believe they were just good hd truck tires, is balancing not really a thing on trailer tires or am I just a hillbilly all the 15” trailer tires I’ve bought were already on rims and none of them were balanced, I’ve never towed one of my boats more than 2 hours but it didn’t seem like it was vibrating at the time from unbalance tires Yaj Yak Yaj Yak

i personally haven't on my own stuff or work stuff.

our tire replacement program for work stuff typically goes along the lines of oh fuck there's a meat clever through the sidewall go to menards and hope they have two that will fit.

ooooooor

hey discount tire what can you get in today immediately or if not sooner k thanks bye

Nah, I was taking notes LOL

I dont think I have spare 2" straps. Maybe I should grab a cheap set for "just in case". I am going to order up a spare today I just need to check the bolt pattern. I also have to re-mount the spare holder since I moved it for the winch.

i have seen it done, where the "bad" axle gets ratchet strapped "up" but it is still super sketchy to me.

Thoughts on these as I want to add D Rings to my trailer before I go. I'm assuming I need something better though, any recommendations?
I find it hard to believe the ones in the link are rated for 6000lbs

i forget what your trailer deck is like, what do you tie your car down with also? like to it's axles or do you have the straps that go over the tires?

I have straps and up front, I usually go around the cross member but lately just been going around the frame. In the rear I always go around the frame.
I have been seeing a lot of guys just go thru the rim in the back and they put a microfiber around the strap to protect the rim. They say its easier and they never have issues.

Super close, so yeah those tire straps would never work

those rings you posted, they're neat but like, i just can't think of a way id be comfortable with, attaching them to your trailer, that would make me feel good about them being on there.

i mean what if you mount your spare tire to your trailer V up front further and put wheel bonnets to your front wheels and run axle straps in the rear straight backwards

Thats an idea and yes I wasnt real comfortable with those D Rings, hence the reason I asked. The dudes who painted my car, mentioned welding some on 2yrs ago and I never took them up on it.

Those look like they are made to blow a hole through the wood and use that backing plate as structure to make them stronger, I’d probably find a cross member cut the hole above it and bolt them into that, on the rear he could put them into the steel deck and they would be good enough

you could even do these wrapping these on the rear then go straight back to the trailer's metal bar at the ass end with bonnets up front

i personally wouldn't want to tie down to the frame of your car i think id want to go to wheels/axles/tires if i could

You don’t need D rings Shawn1112 Shawn1112 but you do need to get a chain that fits through the side slots so you can run it down through and hook it to the top. I’m looking for a pic of what I mean.
So loop the chain so it can connect to itself (black). Or I like to go through the square from the top, and hook the the top of that box with the chain. That way gravity is holding that chain in place incase it wiggles a little loose. (Red)

If I'm following you correctly, these chains should work (see attached link) and I would use them like in the forum link post #20, correct?

Yea those chains look perfect. Then hook your ratchet strap to them.
