I dig it.

Bit too much reverb on his voice, I'm a sucker for metal covers of pop songs.

Floor Jansen from Nightwish:

Pretty much Floor Jansen anything and I’m in.

First song I ever heard with her vocals were “Equally Destructive” when she was in After Forever from their 2007 album. Stunned is about the only words that come to mind. Also did a phenomenal cover of Queen’s Who Wants To Live Forever.

She’s famous now for her role in nightwish, especially the 2013 Wacken performance of Ghost Love Score.

Nightwish is playing 5.12 at Radius in Chicago this year. If it was one of my favorite symphonic metal bands I'd go... I like Kamelot, Within Temptation, Amaranthe quite a bit. I saw Within Temptation in Chicago years ago, Amaranthe opened.
Within temptation is my favorite of that bunch, but I like Kamelot and amaranth too.

Sharon den adel has a great voice. Been listening to WT for about 20 tearless now, still on my buy it now list whenever a new album comes out.

I have WT’s Black Symphony Concert Blu-ray.

Epica’s retrospect concert is amazing, specially the duet between Simone, and Floor on Sancta Terra.

Any other symphonic metal bands you follow that I should check out?
Some of them stray from symphonic metal to symphonic rock or power metal.

But it’s generally a safe bet that if Nuclear Blast Records signed them I probably like them.

Beast in Black Is a new one for me but they get closer to power metal than symphonic metal. However Yannis Papadopoulos can hit some amazing highs. I honestly thought it was a male/female duet because the opening to Blind and Frozen. “Blind and Frozen” and “Moonlight Rendezvous” are the songs that hooked me.

Epica
Wt
Nightwish
Delain
Xandria
Visions of Atlantis
Edenbridge
Nemesea

Symphonic metal pretty much grew out of Gothic metal.

Thanks I'm not familiar with Beast in Black andNemesea will check them out.

I wish I could get a symphonic metal band together... I play bass.

Have you come across Dark Sarah?

Reminds me of Krypteria, which I forgot to have in my list before.

The opening to this song always made me think it was a male/female duet till I saw the video and realized its the same male vocalist.
