Just regular A/S? Or summer?

I've become a big fan of Continental's Extreme Contact, Control Contact and Sport Contact line of tires.

Usually they're much cheaper than the Michelin's that they usually rank neck and neck with and have a decent warranty on them.

A/S; Extreme Contact DWS 06

Summer: Extreme Contact Sport

The comparable Michelin Pilot Super Sport is $337. That Extreme Contact Sport is $272. Both are 4.5 star rated and both have the same 6yr/30k treadlife warranty.

Tire rack doesn't have either in the 17" size, but I'm not sure if that means the tire isn't made in that size.

Same. It seems the 17 is a rediculous price. Maybe I can play with the size to make it about a $150 tire?

285/40/18 and 255/45/17 are 27” and 26” tall respectively. There’s information missing though

I mean just plain summer tires?

I always ran Hankook Evo 12, or the sticker hankook RS4 with good results. I wear through a set of the RS-4s in about a year and a half with track time. The Evo12's usually lasted on the Z for 3 years.

What size are your current tires on the camaro and do you like the way it fills the wheel wells?

Probably 245/60 stock sized.

I'd of course like a bigger fill.

Why you no want it to hook up, you can effectively change your gear ratio if you want a bit more or less cruise speed rpm with tire height, more sidewall will hook up better but get squishy taking a hard curve, find out what exactly you have now so you can figure out how to adjust accordingly

Try tiresdirect.net if you are looking at Continental tires. They have a warehouse in Addison. They usually have the best pricing and promotions because they are a high volume dealer.
