So once a year I grab a new folder for EDC purposes. I'm a bit late this year at thinking about this because I've been so happy with my Benchmade 940-1 carbon fiber handle & s90v blade.

But then I saw this:

Benchmade 485-171 Valet

 Damascus steel is :eek3:

Seeing the price tag made me consider coming out here and asking you fine gentlemen what other folders should be considered?

Was creeping. Megan told me she lol'd at your knife recommendations for my birthday.

I have no input. I buy the cheap shit because I either end up losing it or use them as pry bars or other things that chew up the blades.

I just have a SOG (forget model) I really like. Wasn't cheap, but not outrageous either.

A knife that pretty can't be a EDC, you would never want to use to in fear of scratching it.

That knife better massage my hand for that tag. Too rich for blood being a EDC. Keep in mind I am not nice to my knives, so it doesnt make sense to spend that cabbage.

Funny thing is, I feel like that now with this carbon fiber skinned 940-1. I LOVE my ZT301ST with titanium handle.

But Damascus steel... Is full on :wackit:

Holy shit that is an amazing specimen! If you want that beautiful status symbol and can spring for the price, get what you posted because that is pure sex. I wouldn't even look at anything else. I love how my benchmade feels in my hand and operates. I doubt I will buy a different brand anytime soon. Stick with what you like IMO.

Hell, I've wanted that 940 knife ever since you posted it up way back. I still might get one.

Also, Eagle, you have a pm :wavey:

If I'm being real, I rarely use my pocket knife to cut much of anything. Opening boxes? Yep. Mail? Yep. Maybe breaking down some cardboard? Rarely. Cutting anything of real consequence? Super super rare.

The biggest task my knives have is opening a non-twist-off beer bottle when I don't have easy access to an opener or a crap table I can pop it open on.

I'm a big CRKT fan
Yeah, I own a CRKT that I carried for YEARS before I got into buying one every year to build up a collection. I'll have to dig it up and post a pic.

My closest folder to that massive piece is my ZT blade. Its a tank that I'm sure I could demo a kitchen with.

That knife is sick!!

I've always wanted to carry around a knife, but I can't stand having things in my pockets other than my phone, keys, and wallet. Its already too much! I just leave one in each of my glove boxes, and my junk drawer at home.

How do you guys deal with it all?

Well, smaller knives are super simple to deal with. Especially if they're light. You really don't notice them there at all. I mean, maybe you're the type of guy to wear skinny jeans - and that's your business - but I don't find getting to my keys or putting my hands into my pockets to be a problem.

Knife clipped on the right pocket doesn't bother me at all. Can't even tell it's there.

When it's warmer and I don't have a hoody I take my key fob off the ring and leave my house keys in the car when I'm out.

Holy shit. I just clicked the link to see the price . That's a collector piece for sure.

I think I'm picking up a 940-2 next. I like the G10 handle and S30V blade on my mini grip.

BladeHQ says the 940 is their most popular benchmade being sold right now.

I like that it's longer than the mini grip and mini barrage that I have, but also thinner so it shouldn't take up too much pocket real estate.
