I think 2 members of this group probably know this by now but I picked up a new car this week. Well new to me anyway. I've been looking for a new toy for a while and decided it was time to pick something up. My considerations were wide but the car had to do the following things for me.

Requirements
  • I wanted something to retain value (no newer cars)
  • would be comfortable to drive (no race cahs)
  • I could put my family in (no caged race cahs)
  • I wanted a car that I could take out for a dinner date with the wife (did I mention no race cahs)
  • Must have creature comforts like AC, heat, power steering, disk brakes, handles good, etc.
  • I wanted a car that gives me a shit eating grin every time I drive it. (Ok so race cahs do that for me to )
  • I want a car that I won't feel bad driving alot during the nicer months.

Types of Cars I've been looking at
  • MKIV Supra's, duh, no need to explain.
  • R32 GTRs, because why not although value will tank once newer R33/R34's become available
  • R35 GTRs, It kinda skeezes me out that these cars are still so damn expensive to maintain even though I can do most things myself
  • GT500's, These are cool, but they just don't do it for me
  • Late 60's GTO's, yeah can't find many of these I like but could get into this
  • Grand Nationals, Yep I love these, definitely on my list but I've been there and done that with American turbo GM cars.

Since Pratt guessed correctly the car I ended up buying is a 1968 Chevelle. It was a frame off restoration and restomod car. It has a 396 BBC and TH400 trans. The mods that were done on it are tasteful as it has drilled/slotted disk brakes, power steering, AC, handles like a dream and drives super smooth. The car was painted a couple years black and is a dark blue with a dark grey stripe down the center that is under the clear. This car is super clean in and out. The interior has newer leather seating front and rear and the dash and instrument cluster are all redone. AC works awesome in this car.

Things I want to change with this car are very minimal. I want to see what my TA wheels would look like on this car, maybe replace the shifter for something more subtle that matches the interior, and do something about the radio. It just looks tacky and doesn't belong.
