I heard multiple times it's sunny 300 days a year in Tahoe, that roughly true? Even with this bat shit crazy weather I still want to reside out there

I think there's been more precip this this past week than I saw all spring/summer/fall. Mother nature is making up for all the drought years. It rained once this summer I think.

I made it to work this morning. They let employees through the roadblock. We had a late opening and an early shut down. 33" overnight, with well over an inch an hour throughout the day. Still two more days of this in the forecast. :) Mt Rose Hwy was closed all day, not sure why. Wish I knew that this morning before heading out to work. 89 was closed due to a larger than expected avalanche during control work, which is where that photo came from I believe. 267 closed due to plows not being able to make it up the pitch.

This is for the next 2-3 days.

In other news, there's still some flooding going on.

It's raining pretty hard here in Reno, I think the snow line is closer to ~5000 ft. Still snowing in Truckee 2 hours ago when I was leaving and they're at about 5800, but it wasn't as heavy as when I was leaving Northstar and their base is at 6330. The snow line is supposed to go down tonight though and they're expecting another 1-3 ft apparently down here.

Is it even possible to ski when it is snowing that much?

Yeah, just grab some fat skis, make sure they're waxed and pick a fun line. The nice thing is it's continually dropping 1-3 ft per day so we ski, track it out, tracks fill in and we repeat. This snow is actually pretty light compared to some of the Sierra cement we get, so you can float nicely. Responding to emergencies... that's a whole another story. That gets a little tricky in the deep snow when you're pulling a sled or an akja.
