It’s also not blindly listening to what they say for the area as a whole, you have to do a little work and look at your specific area because this system wasn’t gonna lay down the same amount throughout the entire area. Here’s what the National Weather Service posted on Sunday:

correct. 162mhz. I just said HAM radio because saying radio people think car radio station
I usually say VHF since that’s the band it’s in. You can pick up the weather broadcasts on a cheap $50 scanner that has a pre-programmed “WX” button.

I used to use 162.550 all the time since the transmitter was in Romeoville. But they changed the .550 to the marine forecast. Forgot what the terrestrial freq for this area is now, like .475?

I know it’s amateur radio talk, but my Kenwood 2m/440 has a 2m RX range of 135-170Mhz, and “somehow” has the ability to transmit anywhere in that range too, even though it shouldn’t.

If one were to spin the dial to 162.550Mhz and key the transmitter I expect they could provide narration or commentary to the NWS marine weather forecast.

Just spit balling here, wouldn’t want that FCC fine.
