What’s that club that use to be over there? Wasn’t called Rog’s or something like that? I may have frequented that place here and thereYou know that area well I see!
It's been through several owners, but I think it's still Rog's currentlyWhat’s that club that use to be over there? Wasn’t called Rog’s or something like that? I may have frequented that place here and there
Yep, Rog's turtle inn. Got wasted there many times. I think they dropped the "turtle inn" way back in the day. What’s that club that use to be over there? Wasn’t called Rog’s or something like that? I may have frequented that place here and there
I think they originally opened in the 1940's so it might not have been gay back then.Turtle inn sounds kinda....
Amazingly, they were able to sell it for $0.99 for 20 years. But it's now $1.50. So even more over priced.Yup. Standard NYC crap. That's why they can charge $0.99 for it.
He has such an east coast bias. NY pizza is so fucking generic. It all tastes the same and you can get it at Sbarro or Costco.I saw a few places he hit in the area where he complained about how they aren't open all day. Like some he complained they were open for lunch, then close from 2-4, then aren't open until 3 am or later. But most of the reviews were for taven style were 7.4-7.6 range. He was surprised to see so much New York style he found in Chicago. But hated most of them lol
I hate Gianorio's. I grew up in Villa Park and my parent's love it. It's such over rated meh pizza IMO. Mama Maria's and Dominick's are where it's at in the area IMO.My issue is how early some of the local pizza places close. Gianorio's in Lombard is my usual go to, but they close at 8 pm, even on weekends. They stop taking orders around 7:30 and close at 8 PM sharp.
Post COVID, it's harder to find late night food spots.
Gianorio's is pretty close to me, so I go there out of convenience. It reminds me of Palermo's in Oak Lawn, which is what I grew up on. The sauce isn't quite as sweet but the crust is similar. He has such an east coast bias. NY pizza is so fucking generic. It all tastes the same and you can get it at Sbarro or Costco.

Makes sense, you are in a bit of a pizza black hole. There used to be a little pizza shack in DT Lombard that was awesome but they closed down years ago. Roundhead's is another old place that didn't make it. I was on Roosevelt in the building by Harbor Freight that was a cajun seafood place last I saw.Gianorio's is pretty close to me, so I go there out of convenience. I'm south of Roosevelt, near Yorktown Mall, so I generally don't feel like driving to St. Charles Rd to pick up a pizza.
