Also, riding down the center of the lane can put you where cars are dripping fluids, such as oil, so it tends to be avoided.Question for you bike guys...
I see this constantly bikes riding towards the center lane or sometimes ON the center lane WHY? Or riding side by side taking up the entire lane. I hear bikers want to be seen and heard, why wouldn't you want to be furthest away from other traffic or taking up less space in a lane? The only thing I can think about is road debris near the shoulder side.

That's pretty close (on average) to the 1800+ in five days we did around Lake Superior. Talk about saddle sore. Two of the days were mostly rain so we just kept chugging along.
