These things look meaty but allegedly you could do a track day on them and ride home in the rain.

Route 66 to CA. Been wanting to do that for a few years now.

Do that. A helicopter tour of it was incredible. Coming up to it and it’s like the earth falls out from below you. Super cool.

I've made it from Lockport to Bloomington/Normal, so the rest shouldn't be too hard, right?

Seriously though, next year (if my shoulder is fixed) I'd like to see how far I can make it. I expect my ol' Vulcan Classic can make it. Just not sure about the return trip, as coming back 66 wouldn't interest me too much. Don't mind going parallel to the freeways/highways in case I need to hustle back, but really don't want to beat on the bike doing running over 70mph.

Maybe I can borrow my friend's BMW K1300S before Dr. Jimbo buys it next year.

Continuing that thought, not sure how much time would be needed, but a few years ago had thought about running 66 out to the west coast, then up the coast and figuring a way to get back to US-50 starting in Sacramento (loneliest road in America), and back home.

I know, funny, isn't it? Every motorcycle that my dad and I have owned except for one has been a Kaw. Mostly because my dad had a good rapport with Lombard Kawasaki/Suzuki, and the lead mechanic was excellent. At the time DuPage Honda/Yamaha had a pretty bad reputation, so we avoided it.

The only oddball was the 1997 Suzuki Bandit 1200S.

I was pretty well raised anti-Harley, and while I don't see myself ever owning one, I will say that the new Low Rider ST is a pretty neat bike.
