I'm sure some where down the line it might filter in to other models, such as a Yukon Denali or RST Suburban, but the Blackwing V8 has been something designed for use in future Cadillac's.

I mean ulitmately, the Escalade is *supposed* to actually be removed from the truck based full-size platform and on to it's own uni-body model. So, they're trying to separate Cadillac from it's more pedestrian brethren.

Actual engine RPO's are starting to leak out...

L87: 6.2L N/A EcoTec3 V8 (from the new Silverado's obviously)

Then this is the important one... Grab your panties to hold them up...
LTA (The "Blackwing" V8): 4.2L TT DOHC V8........ ~550HP & 620 - 630 lb/ft of torque.

Blackwing I think will end up in all the V trim cars and likely make it into the Escalade and I wouldnt doubt a mid engine Cadillac based on the C8 out either.

No reasons being given...

Probably because of IRS. It would already be out now if they kept it tried and true. :D

One thought I do have, is that the Escalade has been planned that by the next generation, it is to be completely separate from it's lesser Chevy and GMC counterparts (like a completely different platform). So I wonder if they're pushing that alignment a little on this upcoming generation and trying to differentiate them a little more.

Could be powertrain issues trying to be sorted, out, etc...

I won't argue that top tier trims obviously get pricey. But that's what all the buyers seem to want. I know in other threads about GM's full size sales (both truck and SUV's), I have repeately quoted GM's press releases that their ATP (Average Transaction Price), is increasing. This means that consumers ARE spending the money and buying the upper trim packages as those drive up the ATP's. I know they actually call out the Denali package in much of their verbage. So people are buying them. On a 10 year note maybe, but they're buying them. :D

But yes, you CAN get a nicely equipped version like KJ pointed out above in a feasible range.
