Had a blast like everyone else, also first time ever running a 12 second pass in anything! Interesting race against WhiteKnuckle WhiteKnuckleScat too, I beat him on the tree and crossed the finish line first but he still had the better ET

Some more wheel lift. Taken at 8fps, no image correction done (to any of my photos).

The walk of shame when you have to pick up the parts you left behind at the starting line. :p

Here are my time slips for anyone interested. Th first run was not a shakedown pass, I didn't have the vac line to the boost reference on so only made like 5 psi on that run. Second run is documented above by SpeedSpeak2me SpeedSpeak2me. 3rd run was after I was able to pound the exhaust back into shape with a special shout out to @Handsome Jesus, for magically having the exact coupler I needed, loan of tools and for having a badass GN. 4th run was when I blew the entire exhaust off and totally smoked the tires on launch. Like everyone else, a super shout out to Mook Mook for setting this up and good to meet many of the members I hadn't before.

Edit: Also, my line lock decided to take a dump and couldn't get a good burnout all day.

2nd edit: And the carnage shot, the coupler smashed on the second run, and what dropped on my last run. :p

I just tested it out with Great White Drake... if you want I can uploadthe photos I have of you to Google Drive so you can download the originals in full high resolution. If you want them, just PM me your email so I know where to send the link to. Then once you download them, just delete them.

I'm rethinking this... I might just whittle down the ones I have and drop them all onto Google Drive, so anyone can grab photos of anyone else. Will have to see how much space it will take up and if I have the room. I should have enough. Also need to see if I can make it so I don't need everyone's email, just a way to make it so you only need the link to get to them. Haven't really used Drive much, so open to instructions!

Also, when I shoot photos, even a still photo, I always do 2-3 continuous exposures, then only keep the last one. Reason being unless you're using a tripod or similar device your first photo is going to have a touch of blur or will be out of focus due to you depressing the shutter release, and that action causing a bit of shake. Even at slow shutter speeds of 1/60th sec the camera will take another exposure before you move. So the follow up shots are always sharper than the first one. Those "first ones" are the ones I have to trash, which looks to be about 300-350 worth,

Quick compilation of some clips and hits from yesterday. DanJ DanJoy used one of your photos for the thumbnail, hope you don't mind.

Also, have to say, with the in-car video going down the track, it's really odd to me. Being on the bike instead of just hearing the engine and some exhaust I get a lot of wind noise rushing around the helmet. So while you're doing 100+ toward the finish I'm wondering "why is it so quiet?" ?

For the next event I'd like to bring a faster shooter. Might have to see about getting something in the 10+ fps range for when cars are doing those hard launches. I was also trying to alternate the stop-motion on the rear wheels on the tire warm ups. Some I stopped the wheels with the smoke coming off of them, others I tried to get some good blur going on to show they were spinning.

DanJ DanJoy, what rig were you shooting with? I was using a simple Nikon D7500 with an 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens. Didn't even take out the filters (CPL, UV) or the ulta-wide 10-20mm.

I had my Sony Action cam on the car and got some videos.

Here is my first pass. I knew as soon as I let go of the transbrake that this one was going to be the 10 second pass I've been chasing.

This was my best pass of the day 10.775 @ 124.70 with a 1.49 60 foot

Went 10.78 on this pass

oh hello. I hadn’t shot drag racing since the last year that Trent and Heyo were together for KOTS, so at least 3 years. I have a Nikon D750 and usually I’ll swap to my 24-120, but I walked around with a 70-200 f/4 all day. The 2.8 would be nice to have, but for action in daylight f/4 is way more than enough and I’ve even shot kots at night with it at higher iso and fixed the noise in post processing no problem.

Those are both good lenses. I've looked at the 24-70 f/2.8 a few times for cars and night shooting. Almost bought a D780, almost. Maybe xmas will be good to me this year.

The D750 has been great the little I’ve used it. I think I’m under 3000 clicks on it. We’re having a kid next may so it’ll be nice to capture those precious moments, but I don’t see myself upgrading to a pro level FX body at this point in my life. That 24-70 2.8 is definitely a possibility though. I had 10-20 DX lenses on my crop sensor bodies, and they were cool, but I can’t see spending the money on them for the novelty use of them for me.
