I picked up a tri tip at the butcher today. Had an urge for a tri tip, mushroom, garlic, mayo sandwich. Damn! It was GOOD. 3 lbs. Cooked over charcoal and hickory wood on the Santa Maria attachment. Pulled it at 125*. I cut the thinner section today. I'm sure the thicker section will be more medium rare when I cut it tomorrow.

I smoked a prime rib yesterday. 3 hours on the offset smoker. 250* temps and pulled at 123*. Started with hickory and then switched to oak. I also used the fat trimmings to get juice for my au jus gravy.

Finished product resting.

Added some corn with tarragon compound butter, baked potatoes and shrimp on the Weber. Shrimp went on later.

Yum! I made sandwiches from the leftovers today. Amy made an interesting carrot salad with cumin and lemon. Surf & turf.

Finally got the grill from my brother in laws house. We took a deeper dive into it and I snapped some pics. Quick serial number places it as circa 2011. The front wheel needs to be replaced since it’s broke but used a part for something else to keep it on the axle.

Upper lid is stainless but could use a little love on the exterior and interior.

Plastics can use some cleaning and maybe a ceramic coat to keep them clean.

Grates look dirty but otherwise no rust or degradation.

IMG_5907.jpeg

Smoker looks like it was probably never used.

Didn’t have the rotisserie part so if I want to do that will need to buy the motor and skewers.

Flavorizer bar on the left is starting to fall apart. Quick look on Weber’s website shows they are $150.

The little container parts for the igniters are toast. Didn’t price quote those but I’ll probably replace those soon.

Lower pan seems well enough but looks like the edges might start rusting. Probably clean those up and try to stop it.

All in all, probably worth $350. Thanks Yaj Yak Yaj Yak for making me think twice. Will probably just do a scrape and burn to clean the interior for this season along with fixing the igniters and then get the rest of the parts and deep clean either over the winter or early spring.
