Same can be said for a lot of them, SeaRay included. Seems like Cobalt and Formula are still the benchmark but you pay for it. Is it better to get an older upper tier boat or a newer mid?

Personally I go for the older better built boats, a boat having a well respected brand name will make it easier to sell and if you get something 15-20 years old, donā€™t have major issues and take good care of it, you should be able to get your initial investment back minus yearly maintenance and storage cost, I had my last boat for 10 years paid 5300 for it sold it for 6k, 15+ year old boats donā€™t depreciate anymore they fluctuate with the market

This is where I think I'm leaning. My next boat I want to last me 10 years. I'm only looking at about a 4 year swing (2014-2017 vs. 2018-2020). It seems to be a bit harder to find the sea ray with a 350 though which I attribute to dealers optioning them with the 4.5 and 5.0 to keep the initial cost down. Seems like I need to not rush the purchase, not settle and make sure I find one that was maintained well and age shouldn't be an issue.

My budget or my wife's??? :ROFLMAO:

I'm looking at boats in the $50's. Ideally I would like to spend in the $40's. I know boats usually have quite a bit of wiggle room compared to listing price. I would absolutely spend into the low $50's if the boat checked EVERY box. IE 6.2, tower, great shape, tan interior... I'm not planning to get serious until this time next year. I'm still holding out hope for a used boat market crash.

If your looking for something with a 6.2 note that the blue scorpion 6.2ā€™s need top ends done every 250-300 hours, I donā€™t believe they are common in the style boat your looking at but itā€™s something to consider

In all reality I don't care if it's a 350 or a 6.2 but from what I have gathered mercury stopped buying 350's from GM and started casting their own motors and went to a 6.2 for their 300hp I/O engine sometime around 2016. I assume the 6.2 and 4.5 mercury motors are just merc castings from GM sourced 5.7 and 4.3 molds, machined to the larger displacements.

I saw this roll up to The Boathouse in Minocqua on Saturday night. It had a huge fucking motor on it. I walked over and took a closer look. Mercury 600HP (V12)

I asked the guy how fast it goes. His wife was like SUPER fast if FLYS over the waves. I look at the dude, he tells me 50 or 55mph.

I say sweet and walk away disappointed. Either that's as fast as the dude had the balls to push it or that's it. It was probably a 27-footer and might have been a little wider, I didn't notice. Either way thought it would have more in it with a single 600HP.

Probably $200K+ boat swinging the biggest pontoon dick on the Minocqua Chain.

Pontoons take big power to run when they're heavy and that's a heavy af pontoon with all the fiberglass and it's a arch.

I do think 60-65 would likely happen with some trim and light load tho.

The 600 is unique for a pontoon but not the best choice the thing is fucking huge, Iā€™ve seen a 27ā€™ toon like that run low 80ā€™s with a pair of 500ā€™s

I doubt it they typically run low to mid 70ā€™s with a pair of 450ā€™s on the back
