I daily drive my svtfocus and people tell me I should autox it. Thing is a blast to drive. I have run with the TSSCC group before but with my cobra.

I finally got to AutoX it yesterday and the car did well but the only complaint I had was with the garbage tires on it! I am going to try to pick up some R compound tires before I race it again.

You should look into better tires for that, the problem with R-comps is heat, those courses usually aren't long enough to get heat into them. R-S3's are a good tire, good bargain as well, Direzza's are awesome, but they've raised the price to ridiculous levels now. Idiots. Now nobody will buy them, everyone is going with the cheaper/better R-S3's.

Yup,

I have a super used set in 5x114.3 when I autocrossed my maxima. Still didn't fix how bad of a driver I was but gripped super well on that boat of a car.

It is usually between those and the RS-3's for a street tire class.

I've been wanting star specs for a while. People have said ypu can easily DD them in the summer and not tear them up to bad. But now they cost alot

How much were they before? I can get them for like $130/tire which doesn't seem too bad but I am used to buying corvette tires!

130/tire isnt bad. The size I want is 185 a tire from tirerack. S2000 peeps run that size and have told me they have lasted two seasons with mild track days and stuff. But with my car being a lot heavier I think I would tear them up more.

You would tear up any sticky tire with your car though, not a bad thing, just what happens to heavy FWD cars. My Evo went through 1/2 of my NT-05's in 4 sessions. Stupid heavy ass car.

This thread reminded me, Sunday I saw a Focus SVT in Elgin on Rt.31. It was turbo'd. He got on it once and it was a turd. With that said though, it was still slick looking and didn't sound riced out.

I don't think I've seen a modded one that was fast in a straight line. Total waste of money after a few basic bolt ons to wake it up a bit.

Yeah, its definitely a dog in a straight line! Eventually, I will probably throw the basics at her.. and intake and exhaust but thats about it. I need tires and suspension. I was looking at the Eibach coilover setup. Any of you have any experience with it?
