🔧 BUILD Supercharged C5

General Information

[chapter]Goodbye 335, hello C5[/chapter]

Traded the 335i a couple weeks back and picked up a 00 C5. It was to good of a deal not to, honestly. The Bmw had a rebuilt title, and booked for $9k with a clean title, so i could have probably sold it for around 6 or a tad higher. i traded the car plus $3k on my side.

Car is a 2000 C5, 112k miles, auto, A&A V3 supercharger kit, JBA headers, Magnaflow catback, summit racing balancer, BTR dual valve springs, plugs, msd wires, kenne belle boost a pump, all 4 stabilizer links new, glass targa top and painted top.

Car was dyno tuned in oct 2016 at 498whp at weaponX in OHIO but the car felt slow. drove it home and had my tuner pull the file and it's extremely low on timing so that has me worried, as to why they pulled so much timing out of it. best case scenario, they pulled a lot of timing just to be a safe daily and to save the trans (supposedly it's built, but no proof makes me assume it's stock) worst case scenario, the engine is hurt so they pulled a lot of timing to try and hide it, so i changed the oil tonight and am shipping off a sample to blackstone Labs.

Also, the owner in which i got the car from, paid a shop to install the new summit pulley, but the shop did not pin the pulley to the crank. the previous owner (not the guy i got it from) was the one that modded the car, and initially the pulley was pinned, but the shop did no re pin the new pulley, so now i've got to take care of that sometime soon. other than that, car doesn't have any major issues, speakers sound like shit, and i have to order a new wiper motor. overall, i think i came out like a bandit on the trade, since the SC kit alone cost almost what my car was worth.

sorry for the shit pics, working 2 jobs currently has me very limited for time.

Bypass mod complete on the zo6 Ti exhaust. Excited to get this on and ditch the ugly ass setup that’s currently on the car.

And a couple of extra bonus pics from my buddies shop that did the bypass for me. He’s a Gebhardt, use to be a huge name in fab shop for racing. Now his dad just does it out of his home.

Still slowly picking away at the car. It’s nearing “completion.” Had to order a 3 bar map for the pulley setup I’ll be running as I will probably be around 20-25lbs. Will need a base tune to drive to a shop for an alignment prior to full tune. Also picked up a set of A4 seats to install.

Car is finally out of the shop and now the waiting game starts for the tuner to find the time. We really want to get in a dyno due to the power expectation, gets sketchy on the street.

The front tires on the welds are way too wide, so I need to get some tires ordered soon because they look like shit on the car! Will try to get them swapped asap, but money is tight as I just dropped $2k on truck suspension and I still need tires for it. Plus booked and paid for 3 vacations so I’m currently strapped.

Also need a new plate since that one expired three years ago. ?

I had a 98 cobra BAB with seats similar to those if I recall they fade very easily and fast or have they fixed that issue? Either way they very comfortable seats.
I’ve seen some pictures online of them faded. I planned to google see if there is anything I can apply to them to help slow the fade down. The windows are 5% around and 50% windshield, so I’m hoping that helps out a little bit at least.

Mine were 20% tint and the seats looked purple

I know it’s hard to believe, but another speed bump. Car was idling like shit and tuner didn’t know why, started diagnosing and determine had a dead injector and a weak injector. Running Bosch 210’s from BigWillys performance. Messaged him and he stated it was likely due to the the flow match chemical sitting in them for the almost 2 years that I bought them and didn’t run them. Ordered a new set that will ship out Monday.

Would you sell the old injectors? If so shoot me a price, I might be interested

Fml! Suspension settled and while unloading from the trailer and finally driving it back into my garage heard a grinding sound. Guess we didn’t shave enough off of the a-arms for the wheels!

good news though, car is at least back home. Now to find time for tuning. A friend is going to tune it just so I can drive it around while I try to decide who im going to have do my full tune.
