Stay away from Atlanta if you want to street race. They're cracking down.

The Atlanta Police Department said it arrested 44 people and impounded 29 vehicles during a crackdown on illegal street racing over the weekend, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“We pledged to deal with these speeders and reckless drivers who have shown a complete disregard for the safety of others with these dangerous antics,” its chief, Erika Shields, said in a statement...

...“Arrests and citations included traffic offenses such as laying drag, speeding and reckless driving to other criminal offenses such as DUI, drinking in public, and possession of marijuana,” the Atlanta Police Department said. “One convicted felon was found to be in possession of a firearm and charged accordingly.” ...

...“We will continue to impound, arrest and seek costly fines for those individuals who choose Atlanta for this senseless behavior,” Shields said following the crackdown.

Good. These stupid Facebook groups have been shutting down highways in Atlanta to do donuts. Someone died as a result of it on mother's day weekend. From what I read, the person who died likely would have survived, but people were blocking emergency vehicles from getting to the scene.

It’s nothing new.. shit gets out of hand with hundreds of cars showing up and eventually gets shut down by police. Hell I remember back in the 90’s when it was huge in Schaumburg and then news crews started to show up and did a big 2 part story on it.
