My Garmin sends me weekly reports, but doesn't break down the individual steps by day, just the average.

Last week, 6114 average for total of 42,798 steps.

My weekly total "should" be higher. I found that when using yard tools, like a weedeater and push mower the watch doesn't count any steps. Was wondering how I cut my yard and the neighbor's yard (about 18,000 sq ft combined) in less than 1000 steps.

stopped wearing mine but just bought a fitbit charge 5. mexico city iirc average was 15k daily. kinda potatoing here at my parents house, will see what my new normal in thailand is in a couple weeks.
15K daily? Fuuuuck me. Even walking 4-5 miles on the beach in FL I barely got 12,000 steps. My average stride is 20 steps over 50'.

dunno what my stride is. was in thailand at the start of this, back in the states for a month in july (lowest marks) then mexico city for the rest of this chart, although i didn't always have it on.

my record day is 50k, during which i walked to 4 burger places in mexico city on a weekend. i made the definitive burger guide for mexico city and had 91 burgers from 82 restaurants in 38 days. should have actually made this long burger thread into a video really.

IIRC you log into the Fitbit website and in your profile settings you can change your stride length. Default is ā€œautomaticā€, which I found to be inaccurate. You have to measure your stride length and then enter it.

With the Garmin you enter both the distance measured and the number of steps. So like I said, Iā€™m 20 steps over 50ā€™ I could also enter 40 steps over 100ā€™. Both fields are open to enter a value.

i did some spot checks when i had the prior one above when i first got it, and it seemed to be working well. i'll test the new one when i go for a longer walk and adjust accordingly, thanks!
