What is the point of a Solvent Trap anyway?

It seems pretty pointless for gun cleaning since who really gives a crap about "catching a cleaning patch".

My guess is that it's meant to be used as a silencer, which would be illegal.

You can make your own solvent trap for about $60.
If the convenience is worth the extra $100 or so then do it.

The point is to not get those pesky patches and oil on your carpet! LOL

How wet are you running your guns to need something like this?

I've been using these on my table to clean my guns. Soaks up and grease or oil and gunk. Won't bleed through and then can just be thrown out.

Amazon.com - Disposable Blue Underpad 23 X 36 150 Case -

Great for lots of other uses too.
I think I might try those underpads.

Right now I'm just using plastic grocery bags with two layers of paper towels on top. It gets the job done. I save the grocery bags and re-use them for the next cleaning.

Yes, I'm a cheap motherfucker.
