Just watched a rebuild video from “The Skid Factory” where they’re rebuilding a GM block (not an LS, but hydraulic roller) and the lifter supplier said to just soak the rollers, not the whole lifter. Something about the rocker adjustment with preloaded lifters and having a lifter collapse on initial startup, they’d rather they build up the pressure.

So many people also say just install oil pump dry and then just start it up. Some people say turn out over with the starter with no plugs and fuel pump fuse pulled.

Fighting the urge to pack it with Vaseline which you have to do with Buick oil pumps since they’re shit and external on the timing cover.

Update: wheel covers That’s all.

Oh and I need a converter. This thing is still a dog off the line even with the 3.27 gears.

Like the whole center section case and all, or just the internals? I don’t know shit about these things other than they are cool lol
i really dont know the answer to that.

all i do know, is my friend who has a PPV caprice is shopping for a certain ratio camaro diff. like the whole thing. and from what i understand thats the easiest way to get your desired ratio

I currently have a camaro 3.27 rear diff in it. Bigger 8.6? I think ring gear and a diff cover vs the tiny stock 2.92 bolt together crapper.
Camaro could be had with 3.27 lsd, 3.45 lsd and 3.90 lsd. I paid $300 for my 3.27. Cant find a 3.45 for even double that so.

Yea the circle D is like $150 more than the zl1 diff. Guessing a 3000-3200 stall would get this turd off the line. The zl1 diff in a low hp na setup looks to only stall like 2000-2200 (which would be decent for our Tahoe I think though)

Carl@Redline Carl@Redline would be able to get you a custom spec'd converter on the low if youre interested. and yes, we can ship it.
I’m listening.......
Circle d has a DD converter that goes up to 3000-3200 stall it’s fairly cheap for circle d at 600ish
hard to beat. Every once in a while you can find 10% off too.
What gears do they make for these? Can you get 3.55’s or 3.73’s ? Naturally aspirated those would be pretty stout gears

I still hunt for 3.45 rear diffs. If I find a good enough deal I’ll swap that 3.27 out. Right now at like 80mph I think I see a hair over 2k cruising so it’s plenty low now still.

Summer tires on, needs a bath and a wheel/tire scrub. Hope we don’t get snow in May this year. Also always assumed these g8 sport 19” rims fit but they hit the caliper so guess there’s zero reason to keep them around, I should of double checked the spare fits
