Heard a constant noise coming from the engine bay so did some checking and found this.

New lifters, gasket, and cam will be on order and hope to have everything back together and tuned by Saturday.

Bullet cut the cam and those are Lunati link bar lifters. Think maybe the check valve inside of it failed or was gummed up somehow. I wanted a new cam anyway so I got my wish in the end. :riski:

That happened to me like 3 times with LS7 lifters.

It happens all the time. My theory is either a bad heat treat on a roller or cam, or those cheap plastic retainers allow the lifter to rotate slightly and allow the cam to "shear" against the roller and eventually weaken it

After consulting a few people, the popular theory seems to be that the grind on the cam was a little rougher than it should have been causing the track marks shown on the lobes.

Damn, hopefully it didn't send anything into the motor to hurt that too.

^^ I would expect if there was metal in the motor that this would have occured pretty soon after the cam swap. It has been over a year and now a problem develops and my guess is any metal that appeared would have come from the damaged lifter.
