*Track Day Recap of Shop Car New PB*
8.57 @ 164.32mph - 1.315 60ft with only 21-22psi of boost and DA= ~2,100ft
So the goal of this car when we got it was to make it a full weight 8.50 street car.... which we nailed on Friday.
With the data we acquired from our last track trip. We knew it was going to be pretty easy to achieve our goal. Last outing we knocked off our 8.8 with a 1.40 60ft.
So this time out we made only 2 adjustments... we raised the 2 step about 400-500rpm which netted roughly 2-3psi more out the gate.. and then used our @turbosmarthq Eboost2 Boost controller to adjust our Boost ramp In by adding a 3rd stage. So once we launch it takes 2 seconds for boost to ramp from wastegate ( about 13psi) to 19psi which is stage 2... stage 3 takes 1 second of ramp in to get to 21psi... only reason we saw 22psi were the small spikes on the shifts.. So overall 3 seconds of a gradual ramp in from 13 to 21psi.. and a little extra boost netted our goal.
So it did take us a few passes to iron out the 60ft. We ran four 8.8-8.9 passes prior to the 8.5 as the track wasn't not holding the power we were now applying with the added boost. All resulted in 1.57-1.60 60fts...That is where @etonix stepped in with his experience to help us line up. He used a couple tricks he was taught to get the power down and produce the 60ft we needed.
We now have a tuneup in place that will duplicate this result even when track prep is not optimal. Even more exciting is we know that this car is setup to handle another 6-8psi of boost. On top of it, we could pull out a ton of weight if we really wanted to...
But truth is, we went 8.5x with the cooled seats on and AC blasting... This is THE perfect example of what we enjoy... A true street car we can race... not a race car for the street. That is what we do.
