WASHINGTON – Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is in the hospital after falling in her office Wednesday night, the Court announced in a statement on Thursday.

Ginsburg, 85, went home after the fall but continued to experience "discomfort overnight" and went to George Washington Hospital early Thursday. Tests revealed she fractured three ribs and she "was admitted for observation and treatment," according to the statement.

Ginsburg has served on the court for more than 25 years after being appointed by former President Bill Clinton in 1993. She is considered one of the court's more liberal justices.

In recent years, she has gained celebrity status among progressives – who lovingly refer to her as the "Notorious RBG" – and was the subject a recent documentary, "RBG."

It’s never a good thing to have too much power/sway for one group.

I have to agree although it is humorous to think how the other side wouldn't give 2 shits about upholding the constitutions original intent.
"the other side"?

you mean either side?

Well, I suppose you have a point with both sides. The supreme court should consist of constitutionalists instead of what we have but it does seem as though conservative judges will err to the side of constitutionalism more so than liberal ones.

The people on social media are going nuts saying they'll donate ribs to RBG if needed. :bowrofl:

I personally cannot stand President Trump but may hope for him to win re-election in 2020 now no matter what to possibly replace her with Barrett.

Isn't one of the other far left judges like 80 as well? I can't imagine if Trump got to replace both of them.

Stephen Breyer is 80. The court would be 7-2 if he goes too while Trump is there. LOL!!!

Would have to assume a Democrat wins in 2024 though, and then Clarence would be getting up there. I think he is the most conservative of all the Justices.

You would wonder if Trump wins another term and still has 55 votes in the Senate, they might ask him to retire sooner to nominate another younger judge in his place like we just saw happen...

Vs the Trump nominees? I think we'll have to see on that. I could see them being equals in that regard.

Back on subject, I hope she gets better, but I hope she retires while she's ahead too. Falling is no joke when you're old, this could easily kill her.

She won't retire as long as Trump is in office. I mean we can agree on that right?

I dont know, hence my question if she might be gutsy enough to announce it to try to get a huge ground swell of Democrats to vote in 2020.

The problem is itll also get a ground swell of Republicans out as well.

Imagine how big the media will make that election considering what we just went through in 2018 midterms. :bowrofl:

The question is would the Republicans be ballsy enough if she retired (or passed) to nominate and push someone through right before the election.

Agreed. I don't want anything bad to happen to her at all, and I almost wonder if she had wished Hillary would have won so she could have retired like Kennedy did.

Didn't them dems ask her to retire under Obama and she refused? If thats true, I think she had to assume Hillary was winning.

I wonder if they don't need a cap on the Justices ages... My old man sometimes loses total train of thought at 72 years old, I cant imagine him at 85.

They'll "weekend at bernies" her before they let her off that podium.

Age discrimination.

Fine. Then change it to a 35 year appointment instead of lifetime.

Realistically then isn't the fact the President needs to be 35 years old age discrimination?

She seems like someone who doesnt give a shit what other people think about her, so she'll do whatever she wants. :bowrofl:

Probably, but there are plenty of examples where a certain age is required for jobs. I can't think of an intellectual job that has a cap on age. Probably should be though.
