The tablet portion the issue we run into is they are gltichy af, my kids are still young and push buttons, change shit, we rip 1100 miles round trip at least 5-6 times a year... Plus one "longer" trip, this year it was 2800 miles round trip. Even if this makes the next 2-3 years of roadtrips easier. It was worth it.
The integration at some level will be key. My daughter would always start to lose her shit because she was hitting random stuff on the tablet. I do wish this had zoned sounds, so I could have my shit on the front speakers and kid shit in the back. My daughter isn’t a huge fan of the headphones yet, so I usually end up listening to whatever she’s watching.

From how frequently we road trip, I know I'm over the tablets for now.

I know what the maestro is and does I had one in my one ton truck.

Did it work for your rear controls? Everything I'm reading says it won't.
Mine worked on the rear controls and somehow with the remote and through the headphones although I have no idea how that happened because it wasn’t supposed to work at all.
I had the benefit of just being able to put Jurassic Park in the player and my son would be good until it was time to change the disc and/or he would play with the tablet. Extra added benefit was that my wife always sat in the back next to him which makes road trips ridiculously easy, even now with him being older my wife still sits in the back and even does it when he’s not in the car.

You would obviously upgrade the front head unit no matter what. I don't mean keep that shit. I mean bypass the rear controller to give you the same controls with a new system.

it's funny cuz now im leaning toward not... what would i be gaining going to a new screen headunit?

aiming towards a smug smug & Seabass 👈 greasy style setup currently in my mind
