I don’t think I started one of these yet. Cliff notes: Bought a house in November. It was old, it needed some work because I’m not a fan of old stuff. Eventually I’m redoing the entire house but the first priorities were the bathrooms & garage. We’re redoing 2/3 bathrooms and will do the 3rd at some point. The guest bathroom was actually the nicest in the entire house so the need to replace it was lower.

The garage, was I completely unfinished. With misc wiring all over the place. Started off as a more simple project to replace the sloppy wiring and turned into a complete remodel. It’s basically a 3.5 car garage.

Not sure how to add videos so the photos will have to do. Will make this a couple posts to break up progress pictures. Hopefully will be 100% done within the month.

Redid all the electrical in the garage. Brought the outlets up to code. Installed a 240 cable for potential future Tesla charging when I finally pull the trigger.
Added insulation & drywall everywhere.

Then stained the wood doors for the water heater & painted all the shelves. Not a fan of color for the shelves but I already spent the paint so it’s staying.

Dang man solid work!

We are just about done with the remodel of our house, 4 year process DIY for the most part - old houses are a ton of fun making them what you want. Enjoy the process!

The fun part is opening up the drywall in the bathrooms & finding way more mold than you expected. Or the original plumbing was installed backwards ?. Current issue is the vanity in the master bathroom was 58” and standard sizes are 48” or 60” so I’m stuck finding someone to build a custom one. ?.

Probably last set of photos before it’s finished. I was considering doing a blue marble epoxy finish for the floor but my wallet is saying no. I’m so close to the end though. Didn’t share in the previous post, you probably can’t tell from the photos but the shelf on the far wall with the smaller shelves below it, had a bunch of wood posts to hold it up. But then the shelf on the back wall was held up with chains. So we took out the wood posts, and added chains to open up the shelf to give more room for storage.

Will share bathroom updates later.

No real updates on the garage I think. Lights are all installed and paint is pretty much done. Only thing left is the epoxy floor. Bought the epoxy, just need to clean out the garage of all the material.

But the master bathroom is done minus some final paint touches. Didn't take much before photos, but it started as a 1980s original bathroom with a small tub and useless nook area. Took the tub out. removed the nook for an extra long shower. replaced the vanity, toilet, and lights. Had to move the bathroom window over because it was in a weird spot with the new shower. Then had to make a custom vanity because it was a weird length and couldn't find a replacement. And new doors everywhere because they all seem to have holes in them.

My only regret is not painting the bedroom wall before putting in the vanity and also I wish I replaced the carpet. Still got one more bathroom to finish so will probably come back to this later. The inside bathroom is 100% finished though.

I did the white base coat a while back. Took forever. I ended up hiring some guys to do the blue. They were a lot quicker but low key I give them a B for the final result. I ended up going on the cheaper side of paint. Still cost about $1400 for the blue. The paint was kind of thin. After two coats, you can still kind of see white peeking through & I see some brush strokes. Lots of learning experiences but here’s the last couple photos.
If I had to go back, I would have hired a professional. I had gotten quotes for about 4-5K originally for the garage. I think it almost cost me a similar amount in the end.

One more update: glass guy ghosted me. Did a chargeback on my credit card to get my money back. Installed my sink & toilet yesterday. I realized that since I eyeballed everything & didn’t measure - This bathroom will be for skinny people only ? ??. No regrets turning it into a full bath though but it is small. After the glass is installed & we add some shelves to the back wall, I will be able to say that I’m done remodeling for at least 6 months until I’m ready to tackle the kitchen
