Seemingly every nice property I've looked at that's away from big neighborhoods and urban sprawl has no Internet service.

So I'm looking for a house with a many acres (since I don't want to be close to neighbors) and not near any airports, railroad tracks or major highways. I just want some peace and quiet and want to be left alone.

Satellite Internet is not an option (nor is it high speed).

That I'm not sure... If I plug in my Hayward house address with the local phone company we have, it says my address qualifies for internet up to 3 mbps!

Lol, so, yeahh...

If they'd give it to me cheap I'd probably get it. I know I couldn't do anything nuts but it'd be better than nothing. (I have no cell service within 8 miles of house).

Granted, Netflix recommends 3mbps for one DVD quality stream, and 5mbps for an HD quality stream... SO, I mean, for basic shit, it might not be too bad. Chester Copperpot, any input?

IF I wanted to work from "home" up at my Hayward house, I could probably do so with 3mbps Internet. Even the largest Excel files I receive are only 56-60mb, and those are rare.

I physically shut the gas off as well as power to the furnace (don't keep thermostat at 40 or whatever, literally shut it all off when not in use since water is drained and I'd deplete my propane tank too fast). I'd wonder if there was a way to turn on a 110v switched power as well as open a gas valve via WiFi or if that's too much to ask.

We shut the water off every time too, too much risk involved otherwise. I'm sure there's some sort of wifi servo dealio that could move a ball valve

That's my thought. I guess I could keep the gas on, I'd just have to set the thermostat to off, with the current old thermostat even turning it all the way down it'll still turn on at 40ish.

My sister is 7 miles outside of Reedsburg, WI(20 min west of the dells).they have high speed internet. 2 close neighbors, and you would never know it from being in the house or on the deck or even really anywhere on the 20 acer property except by the pole barn at the edge of the driveway near the road. 1 "next door" and 1 across the street.

sould like your looking too far out for your own good, or just havn't found the right place yet.

Ehhhhh. It's enough to be "connected" but to do anything with any sort of urgency, not really.
